Mario has always been passionate about gaming. From the moment he picked up his first video game, he knew it was something he loved. As a self-employed individual with two businesses, Mario sees streaming and content creation as a way to relax and potentially generate self-sustaining income. He is a partnered streamer on Twitch and a YouTube content creator, with a focus on the popular trading card game, Digimon. Despite facing the challenges that come with growing a community, Mario remains dedicated to entertaining others and building a strong presence on both platforms. In this interview, we'll take a closer look at Mario's journey as a streamer and his advice for others looking to get into the world of content creation.

At 6 years old, Mario played his first video game which was Pokemon Blue. He picked Charmander as his first partner in the game and enjoyed beating the game, even though he didn't fully understand what he was doing. This sparked a lifelong passion for gaming and content creation for Mario. In addition to streaming, Mario is self-employed and owns two businesses. Although he currently considers content creation a hobby, he sees it as a potential way for self-sustaining income in the future.

Mario is a partnered streamer on Twitch and a YouTube content creator. He started out on YouTube and eventually rebranded his channel to focus on Digimon, the trading card game. After gaining some traction with his YouTube content, his fan base suggested he try streaming on Twitch. In May of 2021 he made it his goal to become partnered on the platform, which he achieved in January of 2022. Despite being partnered on Twitch, Mario still faces the common challenges of growing his community. He enjoys trying out different games besides Digimon, including his childhood favorite, Pokemon. "If I want to calm down and have some fun, we do Pokemon streams. It's not so common but I wish it was," Mario says, expressing his desire to stream more of the franchise's games in the future.

To retain viewership, Mario has a strategy of starting his stream with Digimon and then switching to something else after a few hours. "I'll start the stream with digimon. When, three or four hours later, I'll switch and do something else. That way a majority of the viewers are already there," Mario explains. He wants to get to the point where he can stream anything and average 75 viewers, but knows it can be difficult to attract an audience for variety streams because most viewers come for one specific game. Despite this, he wants to branch out and show his personality through other games as well.

Mario has already achieved one of his main goals by becoming a partner on Twitch, but he still sets new goals for himself. "In terms of a serious goal, I already hit partner that was a good goal. So just getting to the point where [my streaming] would be self-sustaining income between Twitch and YouTube," he says, viewing streaming as a potential business. He also wants to continue building his community and improving retention of viewership.

In terms of balancing his stream and work life, Mario has a strict schedule that allows him to stream a few nights a week while still running his businesses. He finds time for himself in between jobs and doesn't stream every day of the week to give himself some personal time. For small streamers looking to get started, Mario advises reaching out to other streamers and collaborating, being consistent, and being genuine. He also suggests starting with a preexisting base of people, whether that be friends or viewers from another platform.

One of Mario's most memorable moments as a streamer was a "gifted sub war" in early 2022 where two of his viewers competed to be the top gifter in his channel. This rare and unexpected event showed Mario the kindness of strangers online. If you're considering starting your own stream, Mario encourages you to just hit the live button and see where it takes you. "If you're upset, look at it retrospectively and you can only do what you can. Just click go live. If you like it, keep doing it. If you don't, then don't and move on with life," he advises. So, just be yourself and everything will work out.

To conclude, Mario has built a successful career as a content creator and streamer on YouTube and Twitch, with a particular focus on the Digimon trading card game. His love for gaming began at a young age with Pokemon Blue and has only grown since then. Mario's dedication to building a strong community and consistent content have helped him achieve his goal of becoming a Twitch partner. He continues to set new goals for himself, including growing his viewership and making his streaming a self-sustaining source of income between Twitch and YouTube. Despite the challenges that come with streaming, Mario's passion for gaming and entertaining others keeps him motivated. He offers valuable advice to small streamers looking to get started, reminding them to be consistent, collaborate with others, and be genuine. With his weekly Digimon tournaments and special events in his Discord server, Mario continues to engage his audience and provide entertaining content. Overall, Mario's journey as a streamer serves as inspiration for anyone looking to pursue their passions online.
